Established since 1977, Yonehachi has more than 90 Okowa shops across Japan. “Okowa” is steamed sticky rice. It is said that the name of “Okowa” came from “Kowai” (translated as “hard”) rice. Okowa used to be considered as a luxury food as compared to rice a long time ago and thus is usually Served as a festive dish.
